Specialized training for mediators

Who can attend specialized trainings for mediators?

When candidates complete the basic training for mediators, they each receive a mediator’s permit from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia. The license is first issued for a period of three years, and when all conditions are met, the license is extended to five years.  The following conditions need to be fulfilled for the renewal of the first mediation license:

1.  to submit a proof of professional development, a total of 30 hours in three years, starting from the date of the first mediation license. Training can be done for up to 10 hours a year.
2. to submit a proof of at least five mediations (as a mediator or a comediator) during the validity of the mediation license.

1. Assertive communication of intermediaries – “Say no when necessary”

• Concept and necessary knowledge for resolving disputes in the economy through mediation or arbitration
• The notion of economy and economic disputes
• The beginning of the processing of cases in the field of commercial disputes
• Laws regulating the field of commercial disputes
• Law on the Organization of Courts
• Law on Obligations
• Bankruptcy Law
• Insurance Act
• Company Law
• Law on Economic Offenses
• Visibility and determination of both mediatable and non-mediatable disputes

3. Mediation in the field of individual and collective labor disputes

The lecture will cover the following topics:

• Introducing students to the necessary occupations and communication skills and ways to best resolve economic disputes
• Labour disputes, individual and collective
• Getting acquainted with the laws that regulate the areas that are being processed, the law on the peaceful settlement of labour disputes, the law on obligations, etc.
• Introducing students to the types of commercial disputes and the application of mediation in them
• The notion of labour disputes

• Way of determining meditable disputes in the field of labour disputes

6. The mediator in practice: From the registration of a business entity to the client

The topics on which this Specialized training for mediators is based are the following:

• Comparative interpretation and analysis of the most suitable economic entities for the mediators
• Legal regulations of the mediation
• The process of opening a business entity with the Business Registers Agency
• Tax obligations of the mediators, other obligations to the state, personal income, social insurance, proper business of intermediaries
• Keeping business books, invoicing brokerage services, business records and reporting as a legal obligation of the mediators
• Interpretation of various laws relevant to intermediaries, such as: the Law on Companies, the Law on Labour, and the Law on Tax Procedure etc.
• How to reach a client
• How to organize a mediation workspace
• Marketing and entrepreneurial promotion model
• Advantages of direct and indirect advertising

By the end of the year, we expect to receive accreditation for at least six more specialized trainings in various fields.
